Rant and Rave!

Never let it be said that The Seattle Times is too big for its newsboxes. A ranter this week takes us to task for a recent cover. (Feel free to write in with the occasional Times-related rave, too, ahem.) Also this week, we have still another opinion in the raucous debate over the direction of the Seattle Symphony. So what's on your mind? Let us know the good, the bad and the better at 206-464-3279 or rantandrave@seattletimes.com.

Details, details

In regards to Ticket, please caption photos that appear on the front cover — especially vintage ones like the Rolling Stones photo — with dates and places so we don't have to rub our heads and wonder.

Some comparison

Interesting to compare, as someone did last week, the symphony's conductor to Toscanini; nearly everyone hated him (except, maybe, Seattle's own Milton Katims!). I met Mr. Schwarz and he seemed like a nice, personable, family man, but like other people have written, there's no denying that the orchestra sounds better when he's not conducting; at least that's the buzz in my section of the audience.

Clean it up, Harvey

This is a rant for Harvey Korman of the Harvey Korman and Tim Conway "Together Again" show. He did the opening act, and he was so disgusting, his language. But Tim Conway was wonderful.
