Esperance annexation on ballot

For the fifth time in more than 40 years, Esperance residents will decide whether they want their neighborhood to be annexed by Edmonds.

An annexation proposal will be on the Nov. 8 general-election ballot.

About 3,500 people live in a 450-acre island of unincorporated Snohomish County surrounded by the city. Voters last rejected annexation in 1989.

Edmonds has scheduled an annexation open house for Esperance residents from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 13 at Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church, 8109 224th St. S.W.
