Odeon Quartet receives grant

The Odeon Quartet has received a $5,000 grant from the King County Arts Commission and has been appointed as the Lehmann Ensemble in Residence at Cornish College of the Arts.

The quartet, violinists Gennady Filimonov and Irene Mitri, violist Michael Lieberman and cellist Paige Stockley, will work closely with student and faculty composers at Cornish in the creation of new works, and will present several concerts there.

Based in Seattle, the quartet presents diverse repertoire that includes newly commissioned works and pieces incorporating jazz, classical and folk elements. The ensemble commissions works from recognized and emerging composers.

The King County Arts Commission grant is from the 2001 Special Projects Program. The grant will be used for commissioning a new work for quartet by Seattle-based composer Laura Kaminsky.
