A two-time MVP in the Seamount League, Fitzgerald was the do-everything guy for the Lancers, averaging 36 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Can penetrate or shoot the threes. Creates scoring opportunities with his defense. Signed with Portland State.
Chief Sealth High School, 6-6, senior, guard, 19.0 points/game
Future Husky averaged 19 points for the Seahawks, who got to state for the first time since 1989. Athletic, explosive and fun to watch. Nothing special when he entered high school, but improved dramatically and turned into a player sought by Kansas and Syracuse.
Garfield High School, 6-6, junior, forward, 18.7 points/game
KingCo 4A MVP and only unanimous first-team selection in the league. Averaged 18.7 points in regular season and more than 19 during Garfield's four games at state tournament. Has received recruiting interest from all Pac-10 schools as well as North Carolina State.
Rainier Beach boys coach
Won Metro League title for third year of past four, won Sea-King District title for third straight time and finished second at state, losing to Mount Vernon. Rainier Beach has finished 1-7-3-2 past four years at state. Bethea's 1998 team won state title. The Vikings, the only team to beat 4A Garfield during regular season, surprised opponents by sometimes going to four-corners offense.Kayla Burt
Arlington High School, 5-11, senior, guard, 27.4 points/game
Two-time Star Times selection finished her high-school career with brilliance, taking the Eagles to state for the third time in the past four seasons. Made the all-tournament first team after finishing as leading scorer (20 ppg). Burt finished her prep career with 2,241 points. Averaged 27.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3,8 steals and 3.8 assists a game this season. Will play for the Washington.
Kayla Huss Cascade High School, 5-9, senior, guard, 21.7 points/game
Bruins' steady, clutch-shooting point guard guided her team to the Class 4A state tournament with a 21.7-point average before state. Scored 1,777 points in her career. A four-year starter, mainly at point guard, where she recorded more than 400 assists. Will play for Santa Clara.
Bellevue High School, 6-0, senior, forward, 12.9 points/game
Two-time Star Times selection who has been named All-KingCo 3A first team three times and chosen co-MVP as a senior. Wolverines became first to win three straight KingCo titles in her three seasons, and they placed at state every year. Her scoring average of 12.9 points doesn't do justice to how athletic and creative she is in the open court. Will attend Oregon.
Meadowdale High School, 6-1, senior, guard, 19.3 points/game
Parade All-American was the driving force behind the Mavericks' return to state, where the defending champions finished fourth. Named first-team all-WesCo 3A before being named first-team all-tournament at state for the second straight year. Averaged 19.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 5.8 steals this season. Will play for Washington.
Kent-Meridian High School, 5-9, senior, guard, 20.2 points/game
Thomas earned co-MVP honors in the SPSL North Division for the second year in a row, averaging 20.2 points, 6 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4 rebounds. An outstanding three-point shooter, she led the Royals to the 4A state tournament this season, and has signed with Santa Clara.
Meadowdale girls coach
Seventh-year Maverick coach took Lynnwood school to state for the sixth time in her career. A former player and assistant coach at Meadowdale whose Mavericks win with defense and rebounding. Won WesCo 3A title this season and her team took fourth at state. Has a career record of 158-31, including a 23-4 mark this season.
