Microsoft Continues Spree, Buys Software Firm Intrinsa

SEATTLE - Microsoft said it acquired closely held Intrinsa, which develops testing tools for software programmers to find computer bugs, for $58.9 million in stock.

The transaction was disclosed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Microsoft has been on a buying spree in recent months, making nearly twice as many acquisitions and investments in the first seven months of this year as the same period last year: 27 vs. 14, not counting Intrinsa.
