Golf Guru Bob Tindall Dies At 82

Retired golf pro Bob Tindall, 82, died Saturday.

Tindall was the pro at Jackson Park from 1942-1960 and later was head pro at the Nile Country Club. He coached the University of Washington golf team from 1972-78.

Tindall was a well-regarded teacher who trained Pat Lesser Harbottle, 1955 U.S. Women's Amateur champ; Ruth Jessen, 11-time winner on the LPGA Tour, and his son, Bill, the national junior champ in 1960.

Bill now is the head professional at Broadmoor Golf Club, where his father was a lifelong member. The flag there was at half-staff yesterday.

Tindall was a graduate of Seattle's Broadway High and UW.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy, of Seattle, daughters Bonnie Yenney of Wenatchee and Trudi Inslee of Bainbridge Island, and sons Tom of Edmonds and Bill of Seattle.
