All-Kingco 4A Conference Basketball Teams -- Borchardt, Wilson Are Mvp Slam Dunks -- Kingco 4A's Top Players Are Unanimous Selections

Picking league MVPs is rarely an easy decision. But the KingCo 4A Conference boys and girls basketball coaches didn't struggle with their choices, unanimously selecting Eastlake High School's Curtis Borchardt and Roosevelt's Lindsey Wilson as most valuable players.

It's easy to understand why. Borchardt, a 6-foot-11 forward who has signed with Stanford, averaged more than 30 points during league play to help the Wolves place second in the Lake Division. Borchardt averaged 28.1 points, 14.9 rebounds and 5.7 blocks in the regular season for the sixth-ranked Wolves, who play second-ranked Garfield for the district championship Friday night at Edmundson Pavilion.

Wilson, a 5-9 point guard headed to Iowa State, was just as dominant on the girls side. She averaged 22.3 points during league play to help the Roughriders go undefeated and claim their second consecutive KingCo 4A title.

Eastlake and Roosevelt also had the coaches of the year.

Rich Belcher, in his first season at Eastlake, helped the Wolves accomplish several firsts. Eastlake qualified for the state tournament for the first time and their 19 wins are a school record. The Wolves, 7-6 in league and 10-13 overall last season, improved to 11-2 in league and are 19-6 this season.

Bill Resler has guided Roosevelt to a school-record 24 victories this season. The Roughriders were unbeaten and ranked No. 2 until Lake Washington surprised them 63-36 in a district playoff game Saturday night. Sixth-ranked Roosevelt can qualify for the state tournament with a victory against Snohomish tomorrow.
