Man With Sword Attacks Girlfriend
KIRKLAND - Police arrested a Kirkland man this morning after he attacked his girlfriend with a sword and then locked himself in his house, police said.
At about 6 a.m., the 25-year-old man and the girlfriend, in her mid-20s, started to argue over her desire to break up and move out of their home in the 1100 block of Kirkland Avenue, police Lt. Eric Olsen said.
The man pinned the woman to a wall and cut her arms with a knife, Olsen said. Then, armed with a sword, he followed her to her car and used the weapon to smash the rear window as she drove off, Olsen said. As she left, he told her not to call police or he would kill them and then himself.
Police surrounded the house and talked the man into surrendering about 9 a.m. He was booked on suspicion of felony assault, Olsen said.
