Jerry Springer Show -- Schools Made For Education, Not Broadcasting Springer

I am a 14-year old who is appalled by all the controversy lately caused by "The Jerry Springer Show."

Surprisingly, many of my peers stay up past midnight to watch such topics as "My ex-boyfriend's mother's cow's farmer's son's school teacher's gay lover slept with my best friend from preschool!" I may have overexaggerated a little, but that is basically what the show appears like to me.

I feel so sorry for the school teacher who was abused because of not showing "The Jerry Springer Show" ("Students beat teacher for refusing to show `Jerry Springer' on class TV," May 31).

If more parents knew what a simple "talk show" could influence your child to do, they would be a lot more careful about what their children were watching.

I am responsible about what I watch, but I know that simple TV shows can cause children to act certain ways, usually not good. If these girls wanted to see this show so badly, they should have just stayed home.

Schools were made for educational purposes. They were not made to show Jerry Springer. Melissa S. Newman
