In her first show, "Boston Common" (a midseason series that lasted from 1996-97) she played a graduate student and object of series' star Anthony Clark's affections. Q: I love the show "Bill Nye: Science Guy." Is he really a scientist?

A: The host of the kids science series may be a former stand-up comic, but he's not fooling around about his science credentials. Nye has a degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and studied astronomy under Carl Sagan. He created the Science Guy character for a late-night comedy TV show while working as an engineer in Seattle.
