Pierce County Hiker Is Missing On Rainier
MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK - The search resumed this morning for a 27-year-old Pierce County man who is two days overdue from a hike on Mount Rainier.
Chet Hanson of Wilkeson, an employee of Alaska Airlines, was reported missing after he failed to report to work Wednesday. His vehicle was found at the Deer Creek Trailhead on Highway 123, on the east side of the park.
Hanson was thought to have gone on a day hike alone in the Mount Rainier area, but he didn't leave an itinerary, said John Krambrink, the park's chief ranger and public-information officer.
A helicopter, dogs and about 30 people are involved in the search, Krambrink said.
