Monica Gayle Leaving Kstw-TV

Monica Gayle, co-anchor of KSTW-TV's "The Ten O'Clock News," will not be returning to the station from maternity leave.

Instead, Gayle plans to join WJBK-TV, a Fox-owned and operated station in Detroit, beginning Dec. 1.

"We agreed to allow Monica to explore another career opportunity and to release her from her current contract at her request," KSTW News Director Dan Acklen said in a statement yesterday.

Gayle, who has been on leave since Aug. 25, joined KSTW in March 1995. Her permanent replacement has not been named.
