Surprise! Fans Get Bonus: Garth Brooks

LYNDEN, Whatcom County - Country music star Trisha Yearwood told fans at the Northwest Washington Fair: "I don't believe you should do a duet without a duet partner."

And after singing the first verse of "In Another's Eyes," she had one: Garth Brooks.

Brooks, just six days after playing at New York's Central Park in front of 250,000 fans and a live television audience of nearly 7 million, appeared onstage last night to the cheers of about 2,000 stunned audience members in this farming community some 95 miles north of Seattle.

After singing with Yearwood, Brooks sang two more songs, "She Thinks I Still Care" and "Shameless." He jumped off the stage and shook hands with fans in the front rows, then sat on the edge of the stage to sing.

"I just can't believe I go to this little fair in Lynden and he walks out," said Jody Burr, 27, of Langley, B. C. "It's unbelievable. These are my two favorite singers in the world."

Brooks and Yearwood, whose latest hit, "How Do I Live," reached No. 1 on Billboard's country music singles charts yesterday, were scheduled to fly to Los Angeles today to make a music video.
