Bride Of 12 Hours Collapses In Husband's Arms, Dies
MISHAWAKA, Ind. - A bride of 12 hours, Susanne Laatz Mangan was climbing the stairs to her honeymoon suite when she collapsed into her husband's arms and died.
An autopsy showed that Susanne Mangan, 24, an avid runner who taught elementary school, died from some type of heart problem.
It happened Saturday, after her wedding to Sean Mangan.
"I'm happy for her that she could be married," said bridesmaid Andrea Borgatello. "She was so beautiful, and she was the happiest she had ever been in her life."
The couple had just left their reception and checked in to a bed-and-breakfast. When Mangan collapsed on the stairs, her husband carried her downstairs, where her cousin, a surgeon, tried to revive her.
Tests were being done to determine the exact cause of death, said St. Joseph County coroner Charles Hurley.
