Bank Robber Swiftly Caught
SEATTLE - One day after a bank robber was found dead in a Ravenna-neighborhood camper after appparently committing suicide, another person robbed a North Seattle bank, although she didn't get very far, police said.
A 41-year-old woman entered a Washington Mutual Bank at 520 N.E. Northgate Way shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday. She handed a bank teller a note demanding cash, said Detective Paul Suguro of the Seattle Police Department.
The woman never displayed a weapon. After the teller gave the woman the money, she fled on foot, Suguro said. But Seattle Police quickly found the woman and apprehended her. She was arrested and an undisclosed amount of money was returned to the bank, Suguro said.
The FBI was called to the robbery and, along with the Seattle Police Department, is investigating.
