There's No Imagining FOX's `Boys Will Be Boys' Series

Q: I recall a television show back in the '80s that starred William Gallo ("Who's the Boss?") and Matthew Perry ("Friends") called "Boys Will Be Boys." No one else seems to remember this show. Am I imagining it?

A: "Boys Will Be Boys" was a midseason redo of a 1987-88 Fox series originally titled "Second Chance." Perry also appeared in the Valerie Bertinelli series "Sydney" (1990) and the sitcom "Homefree" (1993) before striking gold as Chandler Bing on "Friends." Gallo had a recurring role in "Who's the Boss?" as Tony's (Tony Danza) Brooklyn pal, Al.

Q: What has happened to Morton Dean? He was the long-time news anchor on ABC's "Good Morning America." Elizabeth Vargas now does the news and I have not heard Morton Dean mentioned.

A: ABC's morning show underwent a facelift at the end of May, complete with new set and anchor. Dean, 60, gave up the anchor spot he had held since 1993 after on-air farewells from the show's staff. Elizabeth Vargas, the new GMA anchor, joined ABC from NBC's "Dateline." Dean, a 30-year network news veteran, has not said what his future plans are.

Q: Please settle a debate we've been having. Did Mia Farrow ever play in "Johnny Belinda" after Jane Wyman?

A: Farrow starred in a television remake of "Johnny Belinda" for ABC in 1967, the year after she left her role as Allison MacKenzie on the network's hit nighttime soap "Peyton Place." Jane Wyman won a 1948 best actress Oscar for her portrayal of the deaf and mute character. The movie, based on the play by Elmer Harris, was remade a second time for TV in 1982, with Rosanna Arquette in the starring role.

Q: My dad and I have been wondering what other show(s) Jerry from "ER" has been in. What is his real name?

A: You might have spotted Abraham Benrubi (who plays Jerry, the big bear of an admitting clerk on "ER") as Bubba, one of the tornado-chasers in the big-screen hit "Twister." The actor's other notable roles are as the gay son of big mouth Roy Biggins on "Wings," and ever-hungry jock Larry Kubiak on "Parker Lewis Can't Loose."

Q: What has happened to that handsome Ed Marinaro of "Hill Street Blues" and "Sisters"? Is he married?

A: Marinaro's latest TV role was in "Champs," a series that quickly failed at midseason despite the fact that it was the first project from the DreamWorks SKG team of Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, and executive producer Gary David Goldberg ("Family Ties," "Brooklyn Bridge"). "Champs," which stars Timothy Busfield ("thirtysomething") and Kevin Nealon ("Saturday Night Live"), is scheduled to return to the ABC schedule July 10. When not acting, Marinaro, a former college and pro football star, spends his time playing in celebrity golf tournaments. He is a bachelor.
