Unequal Sentences -- Men And Women Should Get Same Punishment For Crimes

Why is the 31-year-old woman who had sex with a 15-year-old boy (The Times, Oct. 5) not going to jail? When the trial for the 58-year-old male bus driver who had sex with the 15-year-old girl is over, will he be set free with suspended jail time and outpatient treatment? I think not.

Men and women will never be able to treat each other with fairness and equality until both are held accountable equally for their actions.

I do not think that any adult who has any kind of sex with a minor should not serve jail time. I also believe that both males and females should be given the same punishment for the same crime. Ron Belec
