Celebrity Golf Tournament For Cancer

SEATTLE - Richard Karn, the Seattle-native who plays Al Borland on TV's "Home Improvement," is starting his own celebrity golf tournament to raise money for cancer treatment and research.

Karn joined Mayor Norm Rice recently in announcing The Wayne Dalton/Richard Karn Celebrity Golf Classic, set for June 9 to 11 at Echo Falls Country Club in Snohomish.

Proceeds will benefit Overlake Hospital Medical Center and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Karn, a graduate of Roosevelt High School, said he became interested in raising awareness and money for cancer research after his mother died of cancer in 1983.
