SPOKANE - A woman who was wounded during a gunman's shooting rampage last June at Fairchild Air Force Base has filed claims seeking $15 million in damages from the federal government.
Michelle Sigman, 26, of Tacoma was among 22 people wounded in the June 20 shooting spree at the base hospital.
Five people also were killed, including the gunman, Dean Mellberg. The discharged airman fired dozens of rounds from an assault rifle before being shot down by a military policeman.
Sigman, the first of Mellberg's victims to file a claim against the government, was nearly six months pregnant when was shot twice in the back. She survived but lost her fetus six days after the attack as a result of her injuries.
