Software -- ''Sharkware''

"Sharkware" CogniTech Corp. (404) 518-4577 Windows $29

This offering from the authors of the "Sharkware" programs, which are based on the business schemes of Minneapolis envelope magnate Harvey Mackay, lets users get the most out of the printers that accompany virtually all desktop systems.

The software, which comes on a single floppy disk, amounts to a down-and-dirty contact manager with a small but very useful set of features that lets one track addresses of friends or business associates and keep track of each time the user phones, faxes or writes any of them.

For those who relish being ultra-organized about their networking, the contact manager allows users to print the information they input into "Sharkware" onto 60 different types of paper forms.

These forms, sold in office-supply stores, include a wide variety of Avery labels, as well as Rolodex cards and pages for paper-based personal managers, including Day Runner, Day-Timer, FiloFax and Franklin Quest.

On the desktop, the contact manager automatically dials the phone number of each person listed with the click of an icon. Space is provided at the bottom of the screen to allow taking of rudimentary notes during the course of the conversation. The notes can be date-stamped.
