2 Charged With Using Yacht To Lure Girls Into Prostitution

King County prosecutors have charged two former Federal Way residents with several counts of promoting prostitution from a massage parlor and escort services that allegedly involved girls as young as 14.

Michael L. Landry, 34, and Rochelle King, 31, were arrested in Wyoming this week.

Landry has prior convictions for rape and prostitution and is a candidate for life imprisonment under the "three strikes, you're out" law.

Deputy Prosecutor Paul Casey alleges in charges filed this week that the pair used a leased yacht on Elliott Bay to recruit girls and women to work as prostitutes.

Landry and King allegedly ran the scheme through the Golden Touch Massage parlors in Kent and Federal Way and through Eve's Garden and Midas Touch escort services out of Bellevue.

King County police have investigated the operation since May 1992 and have received several statements from women and girls who worked for Landry and King, Casey said.

Police estimate the couple spent at least $188,000 during 1992 and 1993 despite showing no records of earnings.

Casey said the pair fled the area after police searched their home in April.
