Boy, 17, Pleads Guilty To Murder

EVERETT - A 17-year-old Everett boy has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of a friend last May.

Timothy Barnes, who would have been tried as an adult, will be testifying against Aaron Howerton, 18, of Monroe, as part of his plea agreement.

According to court documents filed earlier this week, Barnes aided Howerton in luring Wilder Eby, 21, of Mount Vernon, to a remote spot, where Howerton allegedly shot Eby.

In a written statement, Barnes said that he was aware Howerton planned to kill Eby and steal his car and its contents. Barnes agreed to assist Howerton. On May 1, after Howerton allegedly shot Eby in the head, Barnes stayed with Howerton, shared in the use of stereo equipment stolen from the dead man and allegedly helped Howerton attempt to burn Eby's body and car two days later.

First-degree murder carries a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Barnes is scheduled for sentencing

Sept. 26.
