Man Held To Face German Charges

LYNNWOOD - A German citizen who has been living here since 1991 was arrested yesterday morning at his home by U.S. marshals to face fraud charges in Germany.

German authorities claim Hans Riedinger, 46, was president of a company that fraudulently copied others' products and sold them as its own, and inflated sales figures.

They allege that using false numbers, he convinced 89 people to invest in his company and defrauded them for $1.4 million.

In Lynnwood, he has been chief executive of VAPTEC, a company run out of his home.

He was to remain in custody until extradition procedures were completed to transfer him to Germany.
