Car Impounded In Fatal Hit-Run Case

SEATTLE - Police have impounded a car to determine whether it was involved in the hit-and-run accident that killed 7-year-old Calvin Tauala-Smith last month near his grandmother's Rainier Beach home.

The car was stopped last night at 9:53 at Delridge Way Southwest and Southwest Trenton Street by King County police.

The car, a beige 1984 Ford Tempo four-door, had front-end damage, Seattle police said. Police said the vehicle involved in the May 9 accident may have sustained front-end damage.

The car was stopped after King County police in the White Center area received a call at 9:37 last night from a citizen who saw it in a parking lot at 15th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Roxbury Street. The caller recognized the car as being of the type police said they were looking for. King County police followed the car along Delridge Way. The car had damage to its right front

headlight.
