Prep Notebook -- Seattle Prep's Eicher, Franklin's Anderson Lead All-Metro Tennis -- Ballard's Ottele Earns Soccer Honor

Metro champions Jeff Eicher of Seattle Prep and Franklin's Phoebe Anderson highlight the 1994 All-Metro tennis team.

The boys singles players include Roosevelt's Gardner Erickson, Ballard's Evan Osborn, and Lakeside's Brian Moss, Dylan Nachand and Will Parker.

The girls singles players include Lakeside's Hillary Stamm, Seattle Prep's Michelle Aguiling and Jodi Curran, and Roosevelt's Jill Friedman and Laura Ragee.

In the boys doubles, Metro champions Jason Barnes and Marc Mowrer of Lakeside lead Seattle Prep's Charlie Hall and Pat Barthe, and Blanchet duo Andy Cline and Brandon Feldman.

In the girls doubles, Metro champions Betsy Schanno and Julie Kirkpatrick of Lakeside lead teammates Megan Gould and Theresa Wagner, and Seattle Prep's Kesley Zweibel and Liz Frisby.

The All-Metro mixed doubles team features league champions Sarah Howard and Todd Raymond of Seattle Prep, and Roosevelt siblings Tania and Ivan Barron.

ALL-METRO SOCCER

Ron Ottele was voted co-winner of the All-Metro soccer Coach of the Year last week, capping an 18-year career at Ballard High School.

Ottele guided the Beavers to a 6-6-3 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the Metro League tournament this season.

Rainier Beach Coach Bill Blix was the other co-winner. Blix led the Vikings (8-3-2) to a Division C title. Rainier Beach will ascend to Division B next season.

The Vikings had a league-high six players selected to the all-star team. Garfield and O'Dea each had four players make the postseason squad.

Metro champion Seattle Prep had three - junior Sean Tomlinson and seniors Justin Keokler and Arne Klubberud.

Metro runner-up Blanchet had one player, midfielder Dave Cutler, make the team, and Roosevelt was represented by senior midfielder Alexis Maurer and sophomore goalkeeper Nick Pietsch.

Seattle Prep (13-1-5) plays Olympia at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Shoreline Stadium in the first round of the Class AA state tournament.

Metro's No. 2 seed, Blanchet (10-5-3), meets Peninsula (13-3) at 6 p.m. tomorrow in Tacoma's Stadium Bowl. Roosevelt (8-7-2) plays Monroe (13-1-2) at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Mariner High School's Goddard Stadium.
