Monroe Man Is Held On Suspicion Of Murder

EVERETT - An 18-year-old Monroe man is being held without bail in Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of murdering Wilder Schell Eby, 21, of Mount Vernon.

Eby was killed by a single gunshot to the head, Chief Medical Investigator Paul Moskvin said after an autopsy yesterday. Eby's body was found Sunday in a wooded area off Old Pipeline Road, east of Monroe.

The suspect is expected to be charged tomorrow. Investigators also are questioning other suspects.

Eby's parents reported him missing. He was last seen May 1. Sheriff's deputies began investigating when they learned that people living in the Snohomish-Monroe area had a stereo belonging to Eby.

Early Sunday, officers served a search warrant at a Snohomish County residence, where they arrested the 18-year-old suspect. The investigation then led authorities to the body.
