Sailor Gets Life For Slaying
OAK HARBOR - A sailor convicted by a military court of killing his wife and throwing her body off the Deception Pass Bridge has been sentenced to life in prison.
Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Allan Eby was sentenced Friday to serve the term at a federal penitentiary, said Howard Thomas, spokesman for Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.
An eight-man Navy jury court-martialed Eby in the slaying of his wife, Theresa Suarez Eby. She had been last seen May 16. Her husband was arrested at an Everett motel shortly after her disappearance.
Eby admitted that he killed his wife at the base and placed her body in a suitcase, which he threw off the 180-foot span. Her remains have not been found.
