SEATTLE - Rapidly growing Starbucks is busting out of its Airport Way South headquarters. The popular coffee company says most of its administrative staff will depart this month for larger quarters at the SoDo Center on First Avenue South.
About 250 employees in store planning, real estate, marketing, merchandising, customer relations, retail operations services, human resources, accounting and purchasing will be involved.
The move will be in two phases, to be completed early next year. For the time being, Chairman Howard Schultz and about 100 other senior people and staff will remain at the Airport Way roasting plant. Next week, Starbucks will open a 300,000-square-foot roasting plant in Kent.
