Receiver, Tight End Added To Roster

KIRKLAND - The Seahawks have added two players to the practice squad - a familiar face and a tight end who scored against them in August.

Terry Obee, wide receiver from Oregon, had been cut in camp this year by Minnesota after playing one game for the Vikings last season. He had spent time on Seattle's practice squad in 1990.

Darian McKinney, rookie tight end from Central Michigan, was a free agent in the Los Angeles Rams' camp and caught a touchdown pass in the exhibition opener against Seattle Aug. 6.

McKinney, 6 feet 6, 240 pounds, played football in college only as a senior. As a basketball player, he was an All-Mid-America Conference selection as a senior and averaged 17.9 points and nine rebounds. He transferred to Central Michigan as a junior from the University of Detroit.

Elway will start

-- John Elway threw well at practice in Denver yesterday, and there seems no doubt he will start Sunday.

The Broncos' Cedric Tillman will start at wide receiver for Vance Johnson (shoulder), who is listed as doubtful.

Charles Dimry will start at right cornerback for Wymon Henderson (knee). In two promotions, rookie Shane Dronnett will start at left end for Brian Souchia and Reggie Johnson will start at tight end for Clarence Kay.

Coach Dan Reeves said running back Gaston Green is expected to return to the starting lineup after missing two games with knee and hip injuries suffered against the Seahawks.

Notes

-- As expected, the Seahawks signed quarterback Jeff Graham off the Atlanta practice squad to replace Rusty Hilger, who retired Tuesday. Graham signed a contract that runs through next season. -- In the race for the No. 1 draft pick, New England (2-12) leads the Seahawks (2-12) because of a weaker schedule. Seahawk opponents have a 121-103 record and Patriot opponents are 116-108 overall.

-- According to coaches' stats, Cortez Kennedy has missed one tackle all season.

-- The Seahawks' 1993 exhibition schedule is still tentative but has home games against Indianapolis and San Francisco and road games at Houston and Minnesota.

-- Veteran safety Vann McElroy, who is on injured reserve, was in Seattle recently to have his ankle examined. Coach Tom Flores said the ankle is improving but doesn't know if he will invite McElroy, 32, to camp. Flores also was noncommittal about whether linebacker Marcus Cotton, on IR for a second straight year, has a future with the team.

"Two years in a row he's been hurt," Flores said. "It makes you worry a little bit."
