New York Boy Ruled Eligible To Play Girls Field Hockey
ROME, N.Y. - Greg Crumb is playing field hockey with the girls after all.
The 15-year-old junior at Holland Patent High School was ruled eligible last week to play the rest of the 1992 season by a committee of athletic officials.
"I feel free," Greg said after he heard of the ruling. "I feel vindicated. It was a big weight on my shoulders . . . I was always thinking about it, even during the game."
The 5-foot-10, 135-pound goalie attracted attention and debate over whether he could play on an all-girls team in an all-girls
league.
