New Game Cartridge For Older Nintendo System
REDMOND
As Nintendo of America continues to focus its publicity and advertising on its newest video-game system, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, one California company said it plans to introduce a product to take advantage of the Redmond company's smaller, older Nintendo Entertainment System.
Los Angeles-based Gametron said it will introduce its "Maxi-15" game cartridge for the NES system at this summer's Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago.
Gametron Chief Executive Officer Stephen Weber said Nintendo is focusing its own game-development activities on the 16-bit Super NES system, meaning the number of new games for the eight-bit NES system will decline.
"This will create enormous demand among the more than 32 million American owners of the 8-bit Nintendo NES system for new games," he predicted.
Gametron's Maxi-15 contains 15 games, including one called "Dudes with Attitudes" - developed by a Redmond high schooler.
The package retails for $99.
