Peter Hahn Named Public Works Chief

EVERETT

Peter Hahn, 47, a top administrator with the city of Edmonds for nearly eight years, today was appointed Snohomish County public works director to succeed Jerry Weed, who is retiring.

Pending confirmation by the County Council, Hahn will begin his new job on April 27, said County Executive Bob Drewel. He was one of two finalists from a list of 76 applicants.

Prior to becoming community-services director for Edmonds, Hahn worked three years as senior legislative assistant for the King County Council. He worked for the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department as a national urban policy specialist for two years and as parks and neighborhood facilities director for Cambridge, Mass.

Hahn's appointment furthers Drewel's efforts to encourage cooperation between the county and cities.

Weed, county public works director for 16 years, will retire at the end of the month.
