Places To Go: A Park And A Funplex

BY AISHA ISHANTE SHERMAN, 10

On the weekends you might like to walk around Seward Park. You will see a lot of trees, water, birds, raccoons, flowers, squirrels and other small animals. You can also see boats, dogs and a lot of other people.

I like going there because it gives me more energy than I had when I started walking, and you can meet your old friends and your new friends and meet new people, too!

It's about 2 miles around Seward Park, it takes maybe an hour or less. You could also ride a bike around the park, there is a special lane. And lots of parents push strollers, too.

You could even take a picnic or snacks or something to feed the ducks.

And that's why I like walking at Seward Park.

FUN AT THE FUNPLEX BY STEFANIE HOKE, 9

I like to go to Seattle Funplex.

Funplex is an arcade building.

I can go only on weekends because I stay there past my bedtime. I usually go there with my friends, but sometimes I go with my brother.

We have a good time playing video games and miniature golf. We ride bumper cars, play Lazer Tag and hit balls in the batting cages.

Seattle Funplex is at 1535 15th Ave. W. Free admission, individual games start at 25 cents or you can buy packages of tickets for mini-golf and Lazer Tag and bumper cars.

KID TIPS

Go swimming at Rainier Beach Community Cen- ter: $1 to swim, 25 cents for a locker. The center has pool, pingpong, a gym and more. (8825 Rai- nier Ave. S.)

Roller-skate at Bitter Lake Community Center, fun and cheap! Fridays, 7 to 9 p.m. $1.50. (13040 Green- wood Ave N.)

Take a hike or pretend you are camping at Lin- coln Park in West Seattle. It has very woodsy areas and a rocky, salty beach.

Watch kids play ice hock- ey at Sno-King Ice Arena, and then ice skate, too. (19803 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.)
