Ivar's Closes Captain's Table, Moves To Mukilteo
Ivar's well-known Captain's Table restaurant on Elliott Avenue in Seattle is moving to Mukilteo in November.
Ivar's Inc. is purchasing the historic Taylor's Landing restaurant at the Pier One ferry dock in Mukilteo. The equipment and personnel from the Seattle-based Captain's Table restaurant will be moved to the Mukilteo site, and the Captain's Table will be closed in mid-November. The new restaurant will be renamed Ivar's Mukilteo Landing.
The Seattle property has been leased by Ivar's since 1964.
"We were faced with the option of investing substantial money in the Captain's Table, which we did not own, or investing it in the Taylor's property, which we were able to purchase," said Scott Kingdon, Ivar's president. "It made a lot more sense to move to Mukilteo. . . ."
The acquisition of Taylor's Landing, which will close Nov. 1, represents Ivar's first first full-service restaurant and lounge in Snohomish County, Kingdon says. Ivar's also will add a fish bar and over-the-water deck at the site.
"We've been considering an Ivar's expansion in the growing Snohomish County region for a long time, and this opportunity, adjacent to the Whidbey Island ferry dock, is ideal," Kingdon says
The menu at Ivar's Mukilteo Landing will feature a combination of the menus at Ivar's three full-service restaurants, including the alder-smoked salmon featured at Ivar's Indian Salmon House on Lake Union.
Ivar's currently operates three full-service restaurants and 32 fish bars. The most recent fish bar is opening in Spokane at Northtown Mall in late October.
The Captain's Table, originally called Ivar's Fifth Avenue, opened in downtown Seattle in 1956.
