Joe Hamilton, Emmy-Winning Producer

LOS ANGELES - Joe Hamilton, an Emmy-winning television producer and former husband of comedian Carol Burnett, died Sunday of cancer. He was 62.

Mr. Hamilton's last show was "Mama's Family," a situation comedy broadcast on NBC and in syndication from 1982 to 1990.

In 1960, he became television's then-youngest producer when he took over "The Garry Moore Show." Working on that show, he won the first of five Emmys.

Mr. Hamilton was married to Burnett for 22 years. They divorced in 1984.

With his ex-wife as star, Mr. Hamilton produced several specials, including "Once Upon a Mattress," "Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall" (with Burnett and Julie Andrews), "Julie and Carol at Lincoln Center" and "Six Rooms Riv Vu."

He also was executive producer of CBS' "The Tim Conway Show" from 1980 to 1982.
