Wernig Hurls No-Hitter To Help Tacoma Win 1-0

TACOMA - Left-hander Pat Wernig pitched a no-hitter last night as Tacoma beat Vancouver 1-0 in a Pacific Coast League baseball game.

Wernig, from Vienna, Va., retired the last 16 batters in a row and extended Vancouver's string of scoreless innings to 26.

Wernig was making only his second start after 19 appearances in relief. He struck out two batters and allowed three to reach base, all on walks, while pitching Tacoma's first nine-inning no-hitter since 1975.
