Seattle Pilot Dies In Crash; 3 Men Injured

A single-engine airplane crashed into a house near Hood River Airport Saturday night, killing the Seattle man who was its pilot and critically injuring his three passengers, authorities said.

The house was damaged but no occupants were injured.

Sgt. Greg Sandercock of the Hood River Sheriff's office said the plane landed upside down between two houses off the side of Hood River Airport, about 60 miles east of Portland on the Columbia River. The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The pilot, Daniel James Sergeson, 26, of Seattle, was dead at the scene. The plane was returning to Seattle from Spokane.

The injured men were in critical but stable condition at Emanuel Hospital and Health Center in Portland. They were identified as Eric Singleton, 28, of Seattle; John Mork, 26, of Tacoma; and William Forslund, 26, of Olympia.
