Tigers Hit 2 Grand Slams, Blast Cannons 22-8

CALGARY, Alberta - Dann Howitt and Troy Afenir hit bases-loaded home runs as the Tacoma Tigers crushed the Calgary Cannons 22-8 last night in a Pacific Coast League runaway.

The 22 runs were the most allowed in Cannon history.

Howitt's grand slam, in the fourth inning, and Afenir's, in the seventh, both sailed more than 400 feet, over the center-field fence.

The visitors' offensive show enabled Scott Chaimparino to pick up his ninth pitching victory, tops in the league.
