One person killed in Seattle house fire
One person was killed this morning when a duplex in Beacon Hill went up in flames, authorities said.
No details about the victim were available.
The fire started around 11:30 in the 1700 block of 25th Avenue South and was spotted by an off-duty firefighter and his wife, who saw plumes of smoke coming from the house, said Lt. Sue Stangl.
The firefighter went inside while his wife called 911, she said.
The firefighter, not knowing the building was a duplex, entered the house and went upstairs to check for people inside. When he didn't find anybody, she said, he left.
The person who died lived in the unit next-door.
The fire was contained around noon, she said
