Star Times boys soccer team

Ruben Orozco

Mount Rainier, forward, Sr.

The two-time Seamount League King Division all-star was one of the most prolific scorers in the area with 18 goals. He also collected eight assists as the Rams from Des Moines posted a 13-4-1 record to reach the West Central 3A District tournament. Widely considered the league's best all-around player.

Kyle Montgomery

Bishop Blanchet, forward, Jr.

The quick and elusive Montgomery was the Metro League's co-MVP with 14 goals and six assists and led Bishop Blanchet to the quarterfinals of the Class 3A state playoffs. He is one of the state's top junior prospects and already has received scholarship offers from some top soccer schools. Montgomery will play on a U.S. select junior team this summer on a German tour.

Wes Vanhooser

Lake Stevens, forward/midfielder, Sr.

The Seattle University-bound playmaker has 17 goals and nine assists for the nationally ranked Vikings (18-2-0), who advanced to this week's Class 4A state semifinals. The four-year starter has 59 goals and 39 assists in his high-school career. He had a four-goal performance in his first WesCo North Division game.

Brandon Kelley

Snohomish, forward, Jr.

Kelley has 24 goals and eight assists this season, and showed his prowess in big games by scoring seven goals in three playoff contests. Kelley has 51 goals and 21 assists in his career for the Panthers (18-1-0), who were ranked as high as No. 1 in one national poll and advanced to this weekend's Class 4A state semifinals.

Brandon Crutchfield

Snohomish, midfielder, Sr.

The Seattle Pacific-bound attack midfielder's blend of speed and creativity provides whatever the Panthers need on offense this season with 12 goals and 17 assists as they earned a spot in this week's Class 4A semifinals. As a four-year starter for Snohomish, Crutchfield has piled up a school-record 61 assists and 31 goals.

Ciaran O'Brien

Decatur, midfielder, Sr.

One of the state's top players, O'Brien led the Gators of Federal Way to the Class 4A state tournament, collecting 13 goals and seven assists. He was the clear MVP in the South Puget Sound League South Division and one opposing coach simply said, "He's a pro. Period." Has signed with the University of San Diego.

Cash Elston

Eastlake, midfielder, Sr.

Eastlake's leading scorer was named the KingCo 4A Co-Player of the Year, and has come through in the Sammamish school's biggest games. The Naval Academy-bound Elston scored twice in his team's KingCo-title clinching win over rival Inglemoor, and scored the winner in Eastlake's 1-0 win in the first round of the Class 4A state tournament.

Taylor Mueller

Eastlake, defender, Jr.

One of the state's top juniors is being recruited by the likes of Washington, Santa Clara, Wake Forest and New Mexico. Mueller anchors an Eastlake defense that allowed only one goal over a 10-game span that included its opening game in the Class 4A state playoffs. He has also contributed four goals and five assists.

Teddy Wingo

Shorecrest, defender, Jr.

The junior is already drawing interest from Washington and Seattle Pacific for his solid back-line play. Wingo had three goals and one assist this spring, but is known for his ability to disrupt offenses. The Scots from Shoreline gave up only 12 goals this season and have reached the state playoffs four years in a row, three with Wingo as a starter.

Ben Salmon

Lakeside, defender, Sr.

Salmon is a shutdown defender for the Metro League champions. He also can contribute offensively and had four goals and three assists during the regular season, then scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Cheney that sent Lakeside into this week's Class 3A state semifinals. He will play at Holy Cross, and twin brother Chris, a Lakeside midfielder, will play at Patriot League rival Colgate.

Chris Blais

Kennedy, goalkeeper, Jr.

Blais, who started for Seattle Prep as a freshman before transferring to Kennedy last year, is hailed by many as the top goalkeeper in the state. He recorded seven shutouts and his goals-against average is 0.70. A big reason the Lancers from Burien have reached the Class 3A state semifinals. Has early interest from Syracuse and Michigan.

John Yorke

Auburn, coach

Yorke, in his 14th season as head coach, guided the Trojans to their second straight South Puget Sound League North Division championship and a No. 5 ranking nationally. They allowed only six goals all season and finished 17-1-2, their only loss to Lake Stevens in last weekend's Class 4A state semifinals.
