Find out today how Seattle works

For 16 years, Seattle Works has been showing 20- and 30-somethings the way into Seattle's civic life.

The group's commitment to its community will be demonstrated today when an estimated 1,200 young adults volunteer for Seattle Works Day.

The civic involvement of a group like Seattle Works — which, in addition to volunteer opportunities, provides leadership training and help directing investments and charitable giving for Generations X and Y — bodes well for the future of Seattle and the region. The Seattle area has the luxury of being a destination for the 20- and 30-something set. Seattle Works plays an important role connecting these newcomers and natives with each other and to the community through civic action.

Volunteers will work at parks, schools and nonprofit organizations, followed by a party at South Lake Union Park. The only problem with Seattle Works Day is that it has a very limited presence in South King County and the Eastside. Much of the organization's target audience lives and works in each area.
