Eastside prep stars of the week

Laura Schvaneveldt, Interlake track and field
Schvaneveldt, a senior and two-time defending Class 3A state champion, set a meet record and personal best at the Bellevue Classic Invitational, winning the pole vault by clearing a state-leading 12 feet, 6 inches. The mark was a foot better than the one she cleared to win the Pasco Invitational the week before.
Alex Haas, Mercer Island boys soccer
The senior goalkeeper recorded back-to-back 1-0 shutouts of Newport and Bellevue to help the Islanders maintain their KingCo 3A lead. Haas has five shutouts. He made seven combined saves in the games.
Inglemoor baseball team
The Vikings, coached by Rob Luckey, edged sixth-ranked Lake Washington 1-0 as Chad Bickerdike drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Inglemoor also beat Garfield and Ballard to extend its winning streak to four.
