Indiana man arrested at Everett motel on suspicion of homicide
U.S. Marshals arrested an Indiana man at an Everett motel Wednesday night on suspicion of homicide, hours after the man arrived in the area on a Greyhound bus.
Demetrius Franklin, 29 of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is accused of fatally shooting 31-year-old Kedrin M. Thomas just after 6 p.m. Saturday, said Fort Wayne police spokeswoman Robin Thompson. Thomas died from a gunshot wound to the head, she said.
Witnesses helped identify Franklin as a suspect and detectives later received an anonymous tip that he was en route to Seattle, Thompson said.
An arrest warrant was issued and U.S. Marshals in Indianapolis contacted their counterparts here, Thompson said.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service in Seattle, Franklin arrived in Seattle at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday and was arrested at 9:15 p.m. at the Motel 6 at 224 128th St. S.W. in Everett. He is expected to be extradited back to Indiana to face charges.
Franklin is the third violent fugitive from another state to be arrested in the last two weeks by members of the Pacific Northwest Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, officials said.
