43 local students get merit awards

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. today announced more than 2,400 winners of college-sponsored merit awards. Based on PSAT and SAT scores, the awards provide $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years in college.

In Washington, 43 students won Merit Scholarships.
