7-UP Plus (Mixed Berry)

What's been added : a small amount of fruit juice, calcium, vitamin C, an artificial sweetener (Splenda) and color from fruit and vegetable juices. Pink replaces the clear, colorless look of regular 7-UP.
Significance: Touted as the first nutrient-fortified, carbonated soda in the U.S.
Taste: Sweet; hint of berry flavor. Some people detect a slight aftertaste.
Possible benefits: The added nutrients could replace some of the calcium in milk and the vitamin C in orange juice for people who drink soda but not those other beverages. The amounts of calcium and vitamin C are relatively small (see chart), though considered significant. Also, 7-UP Plus is low-cal.
Possible drawbacks: You could get the added nutrients in other beverages and foods that are more nutritious overall. Vitamin C, particularly, is widely available.
The chart shows some of the nutrients in an 8-ounce serving of 7-UP Plus compared with those in the same amount of regular 7-Up.
