1,500 flu shots available at Dome

It will be first-come, first-served for 1,500 flu shots at the Tacoma Dome on Tuesday, but those who qualify for the vaccine will be given a numbered ticket and an approximate time for their immunization so they won't have to wait, said Diane Kolb of Visiting Nurse Services of the Northwest.

Shots will be given from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Only those identified as "high risk" will qualify for the shots. Cost is $20 for the flu shot and $35 for the pneumonia vaccine. Medicare Part B or Secure Horizons insurance cards, cash or checks will be accepted.

Kolb said the Dome will be opened as soon as possible so that people can wait inside. Seating will be available, but Winans said people should bring water, snacks and medications in case they end up waiting. Concession stands will not be open.
