Five people killed in Oregon crash

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Five people, including a 1-month-old baby, died in a weekend car wreck in southern Oregon, according to Oregon State Police.

Four Central Point residents — Bobby Vanzant, 27; Elizabeth Vanzant, 24; Robert Bartlett, 23; and 1-month-old Zoe Vanzant — all died at the scene of the Highway 140 crash Sunday, according to police.

A Klamath Falls resident, Patricia Lambert, 49, died en route to the hospital, according to Sgt. Kevin Myers.

Two-year-old Juliana Bartlett and Klamath Falls resident Max Bennett both were taken by helicopter to a Medford hospital after the crash.

In a news release, Myers said a car driven by Bobby Vanzant swerved into the opposite lane to try to pass traffic and hit the car driven by Bennett, in which Lambert was a passenger.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, Myers said.

Police still are investigating the cause of the crash.
