Questions:
1. List the top three priorities of the position you seek and how you will go about addressing them.
Budget; attract businesses to Everett; and finding innovative ways to improve public service. As an Everett business owner for nearly 20 years, I understand these issues. If the income isn't what you anticipated, you make cuts or find ways to generate more money. The city operates the same way.
2. What would you bring to this position that sets you apart from other candidates?
As an engineer, I understand the details to deal with new projects. As a businessman, I know how to maintain a budget and what appeals to businesses. I am outspoken, a good listener and can compromise, if needed.
3. Cities across the state are dealing with tighter budgets. How could your city save money or generate additional revenue?
There is no magic elixir; the city needs to tighten its belt. But we need to generate additional revenue by actively pursuing additional businesses in Everett. It would generate additional revenue, and there would be no need to increase taxes to current businesses or reduce public services.
