Nigel Keiffer - Lake Forest Park Pos. 2

Nigel Keiffer Nigel Keiffer

Age: 58

Residence: Lake Forest Park

Occupation: Engineering

Education: Local community colleges, University of Texas at El Paso

Community/political experience: Twenty-eight years of experience working in local, state, county and city government

Campaign Web site: LFP1.com

Questions:

1. How will you address your top three priorities for the position?
Policy, law and open government: Sexual offenders in residential areas, disbanding the Board of Adjustment and property purchases occurred without public scrutiny. A budget focused on basic services: I propose a moratorium on bond and real-estate spending. A check on the executive: Special interests, nonessential services and consultant contracts drain the city's coffers.

2. What would you bring to this position that sets you apart from other candidates?
No conflicts of interest to prevent me from representing the entire community, impartially. Also, integrity together with my experience from many years of public service. In contrast, our elected officials have used public office and tax revenues to achieve the goals of a private foundation to which they belong.

3. In a time of strapped budgets, how could your city save money or generate more revenue?
This city needs to stop wasting revenue, and the city needs to encourage economic development of commercial and private property. Stop trampling on private-property rights, ignoring the plight of small businesses like Ballinger Automotive at 18503 Ballinger Way N.E., and continue to encourage volunteer opportunities.
