Low-income female entrepreneurs may be eligible for training
EVERETT — Washington CASH will offer a free business-training and loan program for low-income female entrepreneurs beginning next month in Everett.
The year-old program requires participants to attend an informational session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 22 at the YWCA at 3301 Broadway.
Students accepted by the program then complete an eight-week course on fundamentals of business management. Classes meet at the YWCA on Tuesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 29 to Sept. 16.
Participants who submit an acceptable feasibility study of their business and who join a Washington CASH (Community Alliance for Self-Help) business-support group also become eligible for loans of $500 to $5,000.
Local entrepreneurs who have graduated from the program during the past year have continued to develop their businesses, said Maya Sullivan, a course instructor.
Among them: Mowah, a company that plans to market low-fat pork sausage, and Web-based debt-management company Retirednow.com.
